Millennials, in particular, are reporting higher rates of depression than any other generation. In fact, nearly 40% of millennials report that their stress is increasing. With millennials now comprising the largest sector of the workforce, these statistics are creating new challenges in work culture and mental health treatment. One in five young workers has experienced on-the-job depression, compared to only 16 percent of Gen X’ers and Baby Boomers. SOME OF THE IMPACTS OF MENTAL HEALTH ON MILLENNIAL JOBS AND JOB PERFORMANCE: 🧠Lack of motivation; 🧠Impaired concentration; 🧠Depression-related exhaustion (lack of sleep, loss of appetite); 🧠Higher rates of absenteeism; 🧠Feelings of guilt for taking time off from work for mental health; and 🧠Fear of being judged for having a mental health issue.

Here are some tips to do it at home: 🧠Find a stable spot, straighten your body 🧠Cross your legs. If you are on a chair let your feet touch the floor 🧠Drop your chin, let your gaze fall down 🧠Eyes need to lower, close them if you want 🧠Relax, feel your breath go in and out 🧠Focus on your breathing, feel it move through your body, nose, mouth, belly and chest 🧠if your mind wanders, don’t block the thoughts, just return to your breath 🧠When you are ready, lift your gaze and pause. Decide how you would like to continue the day. Keep doing this. The more you do it the better you and your brain will feel!

This is especially important for women, who have a greater chance of developing a brain-aging disorder like Alzheimer’s disease. To strengthen your brain, you need to keep learning and developing new skills. If it’s too easy, it’s not helping. Don’t just workout to keep your body in shape. Do exercises to keep your mind in shape too!
